When to convert PNG to JPG
PNG is lossless, which is great for screenshots, logos, and anything with transparency — but it makes for large files when the image is a photograph. Converting PNG to JPG can cut the file size by 70% or more with no visible difference on a photo, which is why upload forms, email, and older apps often prefer JPG.
The one thing to know: JPG cannot store transparency. A PNG with a see-through background comes out with a white background once it is a JPG. If transparency matters, keep the PNG or convert to WebP using our image format converter instead.
Your files never leave your browser.
All processing runs locally on your device. No uploads, no tracking of file content.
FAQ
How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Drop your PNG into the box above. JPG is already selected as the output, so just click convert and download. Drop several PNGs to convert them all at once.
What happens to a transparent PNG background?
JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent area is filled with white in the converted JPG. If you need to keep transparency, JPG is the wrong target — stay on PNG or use WebP instead.
Is converting PNG to JPG free and unlimited?
Yes. No daily cap, no signup, no watermark. Convert as many PNG files to JPG as you like.
Are my PNG files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device — check the Network tab if you want to confirm.
Why convert PNG to JPG at all?
JPG files are much smaller than PNG for photographs, and some upload forms or older apps prefer JPG. For photos, JPG at quality 85 looks the same as the PNG at a fraction of the size.
Can I convert multiple PNG files to JPG at once?
Yes. Drop as many PNG files as you want in one go. Each is converted and downloaded separately.
Will I lose quality converting PNG to JPG?
JPG is lossy, so there is some compression. At quality 85–95 the difference is invisible for photos. For sharp graphics, logos, or text, PNG keeps cleaner edges — JPG can show faint artifacts there.
